Just fresh on the news: Sony has been hacked with millions of customer details stolen.
Sony recommends all customers check their bank accounts carefully from now on. Stolen credit card numbers are apparently a high probability.
Suppose this might belong in the console thread, but Sony also makes PC games, and anyway, a good giggle never hurt anyone.

Translation "Credit Card have been stolen though we'll denie to save ourselves a PR anihalation"

Translation: "We are idiots and are almost certainly going to be the target of millions of lawsuits in the coming months when the Credit Card data that 'was not stolen' is used and we didn't warn our customers to cancel there cards."

Sounds more like GD material than Console/PC Games...

Is this why the ps network has been down for a week? My son has been complaining. I also heard a while back that the group 'anonymous' were going to attack them.

You realise that some PC gamers will also have a console, right?

I'm a PC gamer. I own ~200 games on Steam, and I pwn reasonably well at most games I play.

But, what's this? Shock! Horror! I also own a PS3 - for which I have used my card on PSN, which may now have been compromised. What a giggle!

where theres a will, theres a way, its naive to assume it will "never" happen, but the chances of it happening are slim...tbh i prefer to use paypal with steam anyway, but again, could paypal ever be compromised in such a manner...probably. Nothing is ever 100% secure

Paypal I think have to take their security seriously. A breach like this on their site would be the end of them.

The PSN thing is bad, fortunately I use a unique email address for each site/service so will just have to change the password on the PSN account and setup a spam filter.

Death to the heretic! :p

Fairly shocking news though to hear that the PSN could be so badly compromised.
