All over the world...
Hi all,

Been thinking over the past few months about picking up a hd tv for my xbox360.
Anyways was looking at the sony range and they seem nice but a bit pricey for their specs etc. Plus when it comes to TV's i tend to go for Sony's, could say im a sony fanboy but im also willing to consider other better, cheaper models out there that would be suitable for a 360 as thats what i will be using it for ultimately.

At the mo im looking at 26" or 32" screens, so anybody out there can give me some advice regarding the Sony models...are they really worth the money or am i better off going with a LG or a Samsung model??.

EDIT: Btw what does HDMI mean??, ive seen a model 32" LG one that has both HD and HDMI....is it more or less the same thing or what?

HDMI is the new type of digital connection that will be used for HD-DVD players, BluRay players and the Playstation 3. if you see HDCP along with HDMI this just mean High Definition Content Protection, which will be needed by some sources if you want to view things in all their glory.

:)

Cheers neil for clearing that up....now just need to figure out which lcd tv to buy lol :p

Well Sony have thier new ranges being realeased within the next few weeks, so it may be worth waiting to see what they're like, if they dont offer much over the current models you might be able to pick up the current versions for a lot less.

Samsung have just released their R7 range which may be worth checking out aswell. If you head over to AV Forums you'll find a few user reviews of various different models! :)

Cheers guys, had a look at av forums but still cant make up my mind. The Sony ones are nice but kinda expensive for what they are and seeing other peoples opinions it doesnt seem like they are very good screen for the money they are selling at.

Saying that have heard good things about the Samsung models, im quite liking the 32" model, LE32R41BDX is the model number that im looking at...sells for about £790-ish.

Anyone have any decent opinions on this screen??, is this a newer model of the samsungs??

LOL actually scratch that, decided to go for the Samsung LE32R74BDX which is a newer model of the previous one i was looking at. £860 all in isnt too bad a price.

Will post up a few pics and a review when i get it next week sometime...

Good choice, they're meant to be good screens from whats already being heard, especially for the Xbox 360, let us know how you get on, cos im interested in the 26" version for a bedroom tv . :D

Will do mate, stupid easter holiday is oing to delay my order till next week anyways......gah you silly christians and your silly holidays :p:D

Only problem with Sony you only get 1 HDMI slot , why ? , if they had 2 HDMI slots it would be worth getting one

well the EU are meant to be taxing HDMI/DVI connections on imports so if these are shipped from outside the EU then they would have to pay more and then either charge more or make less profit :)
bloody EU.
