Sony KD-28DX51 Integrated digital TV - missing digital menus?!

I bought one of these at a bargain price a couple of days ago, and it seems to have been working just fine - really good picture, all the features as described in the user manual. However I've come to use it today, and when the TV is using the integrated Digi tuner, some of the displays wont work - e.g. when you turn the volume up, there used to be an overlaid display in green, which showed how far up the volume 'scale' you were. That display doesnt seem to be there any more (even thought the volume control and everything else works fine). Also I cant use the 'Menu' button to access picture/sound control etc - and digital text wont work either. But the EPG works, the little bar at the top of the screen that displays when u switch channels, that stuff works ok.
However if i switch to analogue mode, everything is fine - all displays work, menu is accessable!
So, I've trawled the manual, cant see any options that surpress the green menus or digital text - so am now stuck! This is the 1st time I've had digital TV, and whilst i can watch it, its a distinct pain that half the features arnt there! So if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions about what to try (apart from taking the d%&n thing back), I'd be really grateful!
Cheers for any advice.

Some remotes have a seperate button for analogue and digi menu access.

Also, there will be an "i" button, maybe a box with an "i". This usually changes the info on the screen.

These are both shots in the dark though tbh.

Thanks Tesla, tbh I've tried every combination of button presses I can! Whats really puzzling me is the fact that it was working perfectly until this morning. AH well, maybe its broken, back to the shop with it! Pity I threw the box away cos it was just sooo big!

Left it on standby for a couple of hours whilst i went out - seems absolutely fine now. Strange. Ah well.
Not quite sure what you mean per did I do anything this morning tho?!

Doh, sorry! To be quite honest, I didnt do anything - it fixed itself whilst it was on standby! I'm not sure if it was poor signal strength or something, but its been fine since, so heres hoping :)
