SONY KDL-32V2000 any good with 360? + what's everyone else using?

smcshaw, It does look like a really good TV but ive read that the Sonys are better for SD picture quality, not sure if its true or not though. Whats the SD picture like on yours?.

PuncH, thats one of the things im worried about getting such a big screen for my small room. A few people have said its not to big for 5ft away so i think i should be ok. I think i'll mark out 32" on my wall with masking tape and see if it looks too big. Or i could drag my 28" CRT up to my room and see if that seems big enough. The only thing is ive read that the 32" Sony TV's use a better panel and a few other + points that ive forgotten lol.

Are there any decent HD CRT TVs about, or is CRT pretty much dead now?.

32" is waaaaay too big if you're sitting that close. i sit about 4-5 feet from mine and it's only 19", but i find it's plenty big enough.

sitting that close you won't see everything that's going on as you'll only be able to see a small proportion of the screen.

I sit about 3-4 feet away (at an angle) from a 42" Plasma. But I sit pretty close to any size screen, if I sat about 10 feet back from a 42" I can't play games, it feels wrong.

I use a Sony Plasma for watching DVD's (allbeit via an £80 RGB Scart) and the quality is excellent.

The SD picture from the sony will be very acceptable. After all, it is one of the best. DVD picture will also be very good. An upscaled DVD will look even better.

As for viewing distance, I suppose different variants suit different people. The masking tape on the wall is a good idea.

There was a Samsung HD CRT being hyped up a while ago but it turned out to have geometry issues so no one bothered. I think theres a toshiba one around aswell.

I watch a lot of football so SD picture quality is very important to me. This is one of the reasons I bought the Toshiba. Obviously is relies heavily on the source material but there are no artifacts with either BBC and Sky footie.

My opinion with Sony TVs is that they're very good but very expensive and you wouldn't really notice any difference in picture quality.

Remember I will be biased but only because I can't find a fault with this TV and I know it can be picked up pretty cheap.

BTW, you know it comes with a built in Digital Tuner and the cheaper model 32WL66 doesn't.

I'm seriously considering the TOSHIBA 32WLT66 from your list now, Ive read a few reviews and it seems a decent set. Looks pretty sleek to which is a bonus. Its also £300 cheaper than the v series Sony, if only there was a review comparing the 2.

I think i need to take a trip into *competitors!* and have a look at the TV's on display to make my decision. Ive not looked at TV's for well over a year but i remember Ive always thought the LCD TV's looked poor. Maybe it was just the viewing angles etc.

I've got the Tosh 32WLT66. Cracking TV!
TBH though, if you're thinking of this I'd hold on a bit longer as the new WLT68 series are out sometime this month or next. I think it's got some sort of new engine that's capable of 100Hz image processing and has 3 HDMI ports. Think the 32" are gonna be priced around £1200 so I'm sure you'd get it somewhere online that's within your budget. Might be worth waiting to see what the reviews are like for this before making your decision.

How is that a problem when everything the 360 outputs is at 1280*720 anyway. There will always be upscaling to 1080 and the interlaced image will be less sharp.
I know, but some people do prefer the 1080i picture on their HDTVs more than the 720p, I've not really had chance to compare them, but it does have some differences.

I'm using a Samsung 32" LCD LE32R74BDX (Freeview) HD LCD which I got for £720 brand new a while back. Very good set imho, but you get what you pay for...The sony ones are amongst the best screens available but they do cost more though.

Same one im using with my 360 and have to say its an excellent lcd for its size and price range. Bought mine for about £700 i think, got a nice discount as i have a friend who works in home hifi and got me a good discount.

No, I am using a CRT now (after using TFT for the last 9 months. It's possibly better.
 Well why is everyone saying the 360 has good graphics then?, it looks awful on my SD CRT, there are jagged lines everywhere. I thought HDTV's are supposed to look better with xbox360?. My mate has a £600 Sony CRT TV and he said his 360 looks rubbish on it too so it cant just be my cheaper TV.

LCD/TFT gives a shaper picture. CRT gives more vibrant colours.

You have to experaince both (decent sets not £400 sets) to make your own mind up.

I've tried them both and really can't tell the difference. Maybe because my TV's native res is 720? I'd imagine TV's with native res of 1080 would definately notice the difference.
Hmm maybe I should sell mine and get the 42" version :D
