Sony KDL 32v4000 weirdness

Well weird this, i have a Video recorder connected VIA Scart, but it wont record the Freeview, unless the Tv is left swtiched on, and the channel i want to tape is on.

If i switch it to Analogue to watch 1 to 5, it ends up recording that, and if i turn the Tv off while recording the Freeview, it records a blank screen.

Wtf, why does the Tv have to be left switched on to record, and can i not watch Analogue 1-5 while taping the Freeview, because i don't have 2 tuners or something.

I assume because the freeview is built in - it turns off when you turn the TV off. Hence the blank recording.
Also, the TV has one tuner, therefore what you record is what you watch

the freeview is built in, i'm assuing it doesnt output anything from the scart sockets when in standby - thats pretty standard practice. the only way you'll get around that is to buy a freeview box afaik

Yeah i did put it on standby, and the freeview is built-in, cheers guys.

Its one of them days, i should have stopped in bed.
