Location Free Player

Anyone think this will give PSP's a bit of a much needed kick in the rear sales wise?

Looks pretty cool to me, but I can't get one yet - have to leave it a few months or the wife will go nuts... allready bought HDTV, PS3, New Bike and New Car this month!

Rather gimmicky if you ask me, I'd rather wait and watch TV on a TV personally, not some handheld device. Will be a niche market that'll be buying these I reckon.

I think this is just a new model I think, Location Free Player has been around for about 1 year I think. It was added to the PSP firmware about then.

Also This feature is sort of going to be available on Playstation3 but instead of TV it will transmit Video from your PS3 (movie files etc on HDD), to local wifi or over the internet.

I would have used it to watch matches at work during the last world cup. Probably would have watched them on my laptop though rather than PSP - but then again, if I did have it on my PSP instead I could have carried on working while it was on.

Yeap, plus AFAIK you need to pay another 20 quid for every PC you want to use with it, but can use as many PSP's as you want. So say i have PC, laptop, work machine and an other you are almost 300 quid! I would get it if it was about £100 but way to much.
i wouldn't rule out a USB version for the PS3 in a year or so.

didnt this come out ages ago and work with psp ?

i got an update yonks ago that added a location free program to the psp anyway

its a good idea and very clever stuff but i doubt id use it enough to jsutify the cost
