Hi all,

My Mum and Dad are interested in Play TV, but they're not much good with technology. Is it easy enough to use for them?

Yeah it's easy to use. Get a blu-ray remote for it though.

Got mine the other week for £33 on sale from a well know high street electrical store. coupled with the big hard drive its a good bit of kit :)

thanks for the advice guys!

ZG, was that the remote you got for £33 or the play tv?

I'm guessing it's Play TV that cost £33 as that would be an insane price for the remote which is currently available for £9.95 online! You get an overlay with the Play TV that you can stick to the Blu Ray remote to make it really easy to use.

Depending on the HDD size already in the PS3 you may want to upgrade that too, 250GB slim would probably be fine but 40GB phat probably a bit too small.

I'm really impressed with PlayTV. I'm not overly fussed on telly watching, but it seems a lot of the shows I like are on when others are. It's very, very quick to browse, record etc. Really responsive. Only thing that disappoints me is that you obviously need to load the PS3, then PlayTV itself. Not quite the speed you'd get from just switching the TV on.

So I take it 60gb would go in no time? Is it easy to install a larger hardrive in a ps3? Thinking of getting rid of virgin tv and switching to playtv, need a better ariel in the front room though.

You can easily move it off PlayTV onto the main XMB and then offload it to an external FAT32 device...

Got play tv yesterday and it's really good. One problem is that as I'm running it through a HD fury cable the image is to the left and I can't adjust it. Had this problem with dvds and games but my monitor auto adjusted it.

I've just exported match of the day 2 and that works fine it's just during live tv. Hoping to get a tv before Christmas so not too much of a problem just annoying.

You are both correct (semantics :p). PlayTV does HD, just not the HD encode the UK will be using for Freeview HD...
