I am new to this psp as I don’t even have any games for it yet,
So what size memory do I need 1, or 2 gigs worth?

have found that the memory is very expensive, if I buy the Sony memory,
What is the memory I really need there is so many different kinds I don’t wont to order the wrong one, do overclockers sell the stuff that fits it

thanks

sandisk.....I have a 128mb one. I just use it to save gameplays and that's about it - No mp3 or images. If you intend on using all the functions on it a lot, then you might wanna consider a bigger memory. Iirc, you can get up to 4gig...

Sandisk's cards are a lot faster (or at least they are in my experience) and OCUK do indeed have them in stock-

1GB
2GB
4GB

If all you want to use it for is saves and stuff then get the 1GB one since its only £20.

if you just want it for saves dont buy one , use the 32mb? one provided , plenty enough for game saves

for films and stuff then an average quality converted film will be about 400mb i think.

You can get the sandisk ones cheaper, they are still a lot more expensive than sd though.

1GB £17
2GB £31
4GB £66

You might want to wait a bit before buying bigger cards though, I got bored of the psp quickly. When playing movies the brightness is far far too low and it was impossible to see the screen in daylight. Which is why I sold it.

For films it is pure hassle tbh. You have to convert the file which takes a while then copy it across, then have to put up with the problems Energize mentioned. It's watchable for shorter things like TV shows though. I never use mine for video anymore, just holding onto it for the cool PS3 functionality when I get a PS3. Plus there is a lot of talk of an "upgraded" version coming out with bigger HDD, better Battery etc.

Not a good time to buy one tbh, unless you are getting a PS3 as well, at which point it will come into its own IMO.

Edit: misread, thought you didn't have the PSP yet and were planning the memory purchase in advance.
Left original comments in anyway.

.

What hdd - there isnt one is there? It uses the umd and the memory stick soley I thought!!!! (You can of course add one via mini-usb of course, and I think there was something at one time which had a fake memory stick attached by a cable to an ext hdd, but that could have been my imagination)

edit - I have held onto mine soley for the PS3 also, Im HOPING that this will extend the PSP's usefulness

there was rumours about this along time ago and even some pics (could be fake)
these rumours where about an 8gb HDD , seems silly when memory cards in that size are almost available and a HDD uses battery

recently though there was a samsung conference about there new small hdd s and in the photos there was a guy with a slightly different PSP

god knows where theyre putting it though ?

maybe its a different handheld with no UMDs and will need a ps3 to download games ??? anything could happen knowing sony
