Thinking in replacing my point and click and finding myself down the version number slippery slope! :)

Was considering the MK I to replace my Canon 100S for a bit more IQ and low light sensitivity with the bigger sensor. Then I start looking at the MK II as it's not much more expensive and a few nicer features.

Then I start looking at the III for the EVF....

Anyone have any opinions / views / hands on experience with them to help me decide?

The IV is definitely WAY too expensive for what I want.

I've got the MK I and I kinda wish I got the MK II just for the ability to use a remote if anything. The screen and wifi would also be very handy.

I did find my MK I at a price much lower than the II at the time though, so I couldn't justify the difference.

Well i love my mk1, best camera i have ever owned even against my A7R, its just perfectly positioned, its properly pocket size yet packs a punch that rivals some dslrs and csc. Yes they have there negatives but its such a useful have anytime camera.

I agree, the camera is excellent! When with the ex, she would always go for the RX over her DSLR every time.

How good and how close is the macro facility on the original RX100?
Been looking at one primarily for my Dad who wants a good macro function.

I'm no profession photographer or anything, but the RX shines with macro shots. Going to flickr and typing rx100 macro will show you the kind of shots you'll get.

Thanks guys, I'm leaning towards the MK3 at the moment for the EVF...

Am I dreaming or did I read somewhere imported RXs don't come with an English menu?

A good purchase - I've only got the mk1 but love it, got one second hand for £250 a few months back. Macro is decent, but that f1.8 lens in such a small package makes it very good for clandestine concert shots or in theatres. I have a smaller Sony point and shoot then upwards to a Panasonic GX7 micro 4/3, but it's often the RX100 that hits the sweet spot of size and picture quality for me - it's very unobtrusive attached to my belt for instance.

I got my mk1 for £190, 2 months old came with a sony leathercase, 16gb sd card and glass screen protector, picture quality is on par with my sony dslr + 16-50 f2.8 lens.

Lovely shot!

The RX100 range are all pretty special for their size, personally I would say go mk3 if you want the EVF otherwise mk1. There's very little between them in image quality so it's just a case of working up/down until you get the features you need.

That's a good price.
I got a mk1 last week after debating and that was £195 although it looks hardly used.
Quality is amazing, better than I was expecting as I usually find compacts dissapointing after dslrs.
On par with my Olympus m43.

Ostensibly it was for my Dad but I think I am keeping it :D

Really impressed with the play I've had with it so far :D

Part of the reason for the price was it was described as "THE DISPLAY AT THE BACK IS OK WHEN ITS ON BUT WHEN ITS OFF ITS A BIT MARKED LOOKS LIKE IT HAS A SCREEN PROTECT ON IT BUT IT HAS NOT" i.e.

It is actually what appears to be quite common on some Sony models and is actually a factory fitted screen protector, so peeled it off (looks good as new), ordered a new screen protector and updated the firmware.

Looking forward to snapping away with my new pocket toy.

Very impressed so far :)

I have been eyeing up the M4 RX100 but it hasn't dropped in price just yet. How do you guys find the RX100 video mode? Is the auto focus decent enough to capture candid family moments?
