Sony RX100 or other....

Am close to pulling the trigger on a Sony RX100. For ages I was taken with the Fuji X10 but the RX100 images just look better to me now.

My predicament is thus: I want a small, pocketable camera with nigh on SLR quality and good low light performance. The Fuji X10/20 are both too big. The Canon S110 doesn't have the good IQ of the Sony but is the right size.

There are two things holding me back; the price (450 for a compact!!!) and the possibility of a new model very soon.

I go to Vegas on 7 July and do not want to take my SLR kit with me but my trusty power shot a570 is showing its age.

So, do I just bite the bullet and get the Sony or is there anything else out there? I don't mind spending 450 quid, just begrudge it if the new model comes out soon....

Thanks for any advice

You can get it under £400 now from HK.

I got mine from there about 4 months ago and it's been great. Very good camera, pocketable and can't find fault in it personally.

For something to put in your pocket and go, it's great. I sold my DSLR stuff and haven't looked back so far.

In same situation as you OP. Been ready to pull the trigger on the RX100 for months and then the new one got announced. Not as desperate time wise as you but really wanted one for the summer as am travelling around the UK with work a lot and also at festivals in August.

was looking at the RAW files in work today on our 27 inch thunderbolt display from an RX100. They are stunningly good for such a small camera.

I will leave it as long as I can before picking one up but I fly out in ten days

I'm tempted by the RX100mk2 or LF1 for a trip to the US later this year. The LF1 with the longer lens is very appealing

The mkii is 699 on pre-order over here. I can get the Rx100 with a 5yr warranty for 439 over here or get the mkii delivered to my hotel (potentially with no warranty?) in the states for £491

Decisions decisions.......
