We don’t need GT5 to move consoles – apparently…

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...tmas-sales-says-ps3-may-beat-its-targets.html

All Sony need to move consoles is ‘move’. Lol

Move has had “very significant sales in the first month since launch, somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units for the new controller across just Europe,” House said. “The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production.”

Wii had amazing sales because of a gimmick, must admit I’ve got a move controller, gf uses it a lot and I tend to play sports champions and enjoy it.

Who needs GT5 eh? Sony don’t seem to think so, although I would like to actually see it myself…

At the very least I can use the move camera with GT5.:D

I think the price has a lot to do with it. You can get the starter pack for £39.99 in a couple of shops so I'll just get it.

I think price plays a part in the distinction between a gimmick and not.

The pricing of Move makes it just like buying the guitar that comes with Guitar hero, Or the drum kit that comes with rockband.

It's cheap and lots of games are instantly playable due to updates.

Well, I bought 3 units (Move starter + Move Wand + Nunchuk).. Just to try it out..

I imagine, lots of people have done similar, so it doesn't surprise me at all..

I don't know what it really means though, I've played with it, and it's sat unused now, it was just a gimmick for me, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for gimmicks, and I'll use the camera for GT5 head tracking..

If you try to stop me playing MAG with my Move, I'll attempt to stab you with it.
Excellent peripheral, and that's coming from someone who was REALLY not interested 12 months ago.
Comparing it to the Wii is obvious, but wholly unfair, the Move is accurate enough to be considered a precision controller, and therefore good enough to be utilised by 'hardcore' gamers, the Wiimote+ simply isn't.

Or perhaps it's because it's not a gimmick, and actually a fun way to play games? :p
Everyone I know with a Wii stopped using it after a few months. Of the lot, a few bring it out once in awhile during a party so we can bowl against eachother. But mostly they're all collecting dust.

Does the Move require all that extra cabling and sensors and stuff that the Wii does? Or is it just a motion-sensitive controller just like the standard gamepad?

edit: never mind. I see it is a joint effort between the controller and the eye camera. Cool stuff. :)

I dunno really. I have both, and found the precision no better or worse really. Metroid Prime 3 was one of the best games I've played this generation, mostly for the sublime control method (pre-Motion+ too).

I'm really looking forward to KillZone 3 if it utilises the controls well. Just a shame Black Ops won't have an option for it.

I wonder how many of them owners sold the Wii after a few weeks then bought a 360 or PS3? I know many people who bought a Wii in 2006 on this forum did just that.

Yes, because this forum represents 20 million people.

I'm fairly certain that this forum is a very miniscule amount in comparison. :)
