Hi all,

Having just purchased my new Sony 40" Bravia tv & S363 bluray player,
I'm now looking at changing my crappy AV receiver (so old & crap I won't name it)

I've been looking at the STR DH800, as it fits nicley into my budget & matches the rest of my equipment.

Anybody here own one ? If so what are they like? Recomended or a pile of poo :D
 
I was looking into this too and my final two choices came to the Sony STRDH800 and the Denon AVR-1610. After much researching I've decided to go with the Denon as I feel it has the better features plus conversion to HDMI from all inputs! :)
 
From what I've been reading I think it very much depends on your current speakers. The Sony is supposed to be quite clinical and pairs better with warmer sounding speakers. The Denon is the complete opposite.
 
Indeed it depends what your speakers are like. I'm currently looking at the Sony STRDH800 with the Tannoy SFX5.1 speakers. As said the Sony is a little bright, which is a shame because I much prefer the look of the Jamo A102 HCS5 speakers, but they are also bright so it's not a great match.

I was going to get these to match the Denon as I thought they looked nice and sound good together! :)
