As a docking station it was rubbish. No power button on the actual station itself... I mean, wtf? I sort of expected it to behave like the Dell docking stations, where I can just chuck the laptop on and get a signal to the monitor as soon as I press the power button.
This required some messing about to output to an external monitor, which was ridiculous (you had to set the monitor back before undocking...)
It also locked up numerous times when removing it from the station. The only button was to "undock" how can it have got this bit wrong?
Lack of audio and no dedicated power adapter was also a pain, not the worst but when you add up all the niggles you were left looking at a nice, solid feeling bit of plastic/metal which you didn't want anywhere near the laptop. (SZ71 MN\B, great laptop)
We're using a Targus universal docking station which is only lacking DVI, it does have the audio pass through and a couple more usb ports though. Is a hell of a lot nicer to use aswell.
Moved from a Dell D430 U7200/2gb/36gb SSD to the SZ T8100/4gb/160gb 7200rpm with the 8400/Intel GMA dual graphics.

Only downside was the SZ dock.
