Sony Vaio | cannot load operating system error.

hey well i was playing around on my sony vaio all in one computer, and it prompted me to restart so i did and now the computer comes up with a error at startup saying cannot load operating system. This has left me confused and im not sure what to do. any help would be really appreciated as i need the computer for my job.

Cannto load OS would usually point to it not being able to read the HD for one reason or another ( Dead HD / Knackered files etc )

However, this may not be linked to your issue, but I was reinstalling XP onto a Sony VAIO last week, and I failed to get it done a few times.

In the end, I had to ask for the original startup disks, and it went on that way... The lad who owned it has since got back to me saying that its giving him loads of BSODs.

God knows why, but I recon its like everythign else sony... Utter drivvel.

Anyway, have you tried another HD?

no i havent tried another HD as i dident want to start pulling it apart. I hope they can find the original recovery disks as i see no alternative. i was thinking about trying fixboot and fixmbr in the recovery console and see what they came out with.

i dont think its a HDD fail as he told me he was playing about with the hard drive partions and may of deleted one.
