My Sony Vaio Laptop (VGN-BX41VN)

has developed a boot problem.

Every time I start the laptop up I get the following message:

Code:
Yukon PXE v5.17.2.3 (20061031)
(C)Copyright 2003-2006 Marvell(R). All right reserved.
Pre-boot eXexution Environment (PXE) v2.1
(C)Copyright 1997-2000 Intel Corporation.
PXE-E61: Media test failure. check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM

The last two lines flash on the screen for a few seconds & then reappear. Laptop is then stuck in this loop.

From what I understand this is something to do with booting from a network, but in this case Network Boot has been disabled & Network Boot has been Excluded from the boot order.

What can I do?

Sounds like something is not communicating with the bios, what if you take the cd out and try just the hard drive, and then take the hard drive out and try booting from cd.
