sony vaio ram problem

i have a sony vaio vgn fs414b it currently has 512mb ram installed and i have installed another 1gb but when i go to system details its only showing as 0.99gb shouldnt it be 1.5gb any ideas how to sort it ??

Are you sure it supports over 1GB? I can't find anything about the fs414b on Google, so I'd check your manual to see what the maximum RAM it supports is.

and it says max memory 2gb
but mine only shows up as 0.99gb and it should say 1.5gb any ideas ? ?

hi there roz, ive got the 415s and im 99.99% sure its max size is 512 per slot(2).
when purchased(£1500) it only had a 256 in and it just about ran xp(P4 2.8).....lol......ram was the first thing i upgraded and it cost £150.....lol.....them were the days

P.S still got it though......never let me down(grabs desk)
