Hi

Ive been using my laptop for a couple of days now (normally with headphones). However, suddenly, out of nowhere the in built speaker sound is no-longer working and the headphones when plugged in is very crackly with low volume.

How can i fix this? The problem has come out of the blue and i am getting no sound through the laptop speakers and the headphone sound has gone very low and crackly.

Model: Sony Vaio VGN-FW31E

EDIT: The left/right click buttons are also playing up abit, sometimes right click comes up automatically or left click is apparently being held or something because instead of clicking something it drags a window :S

Is it the 2009 model?

If so it could be due to a build up of dust causing overheating.

Also you could try re-installing the sound drivers and touch pad drivers.

If that fails try doing a factory re-set.

If that fails try a fresh install of the OS. (After backing up all your important stuff)

And if all else fails invest in a USB powered Headset and mouse, as it could be hardware related.

Regards

C.
