Sony Vaio WLAN & Touchpad problems

G'day. I'm having a couple of problems with my laptop.

Problem 1 is odd. After using my laptop for a while suddenly just tapping the touchpad no longer works as a click - I need to actually use the button. It goes back to normal after a restart, and occasionally whilst just using it. I assume it's just some key combination which switches between modes. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Problem 2 is more recent, has only happened 2-3 times and is rather more serious. After using my wireless card for a while it might cut out and just not detect any networks. It's an internal card and has a switch which you can turn to on or off. After one of these odd crashes, turning it off then on again and the light doesn't come back on. It seems to be completely dead. Restarting the computer solves it but that's far from ideal. Any ideas what's wrong with it?

I assume you're referring to prob 2, and if so, I didn't notice it being excessively hot and I'm yet to figure out a pattern for when it happens... it's still only happened about 3 times and I don't think I'd been on it particularly long on any of those occasions. I guess I'm just gonna have to wait and see if it happens again..

I've seen the touchpad on my vaio SZ3 recently start doing the same thing with tap to click not working, it's probably just some oddity with the alps touchpad drivers, to get it working; I just go into the mouse settings and disable/re-enable the tap to click, which seems fix it for a while.
