i have a sony vaio with an i3 processor and 4gb of ddr3 1333 ram
is it worth getting a ram upgrade to 8gb?

Depends what it is used for . 4gb of Ram is a pretty healthy amount

If you tend to use up 3-4gb ram then I guess it would be good.

i think what i was asking is
is an i3 2.13
going to be a bottle neck with 8gb of ram, therefore forget the upgrade
and stick to the 4gb

The i3 will not be bottlenecked by a lack of RAM unless you use lots of RAM.

Take a look at the task manager when you are using the PC at its maximum capacity. If there is free RAM (maybe 500mb+) then you don't need to buy any more.

have you got a 64bit OS? if not stick with your 4 gb or its a complete waste of money as it wont be recognised.
