Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum vs. Adobe Premiere Elements 2

There's no way I can afford the full blown versions of either of these, so the next-step down, top of the line consumer versions seem to be the way to go. They are both about the same price, which one is the better one of the two to go for?

I'm leaning towards Vegas as it seems very similar to the full version, with a track limit, and the UI doesn't look like the abortion that is Adobe software.

Yeah I've got an eval. copy of both and I'm leaning towards the Sony option at the moment. I'm just wondering if there's anything I'm missing here that could be a huge pain further down the line.
