Is this a good program for editing videos? I am going to make a few vids with fraps, I already have a program to resize the ridiculously large files to a smaller size, but im wondering:

Say I record 10 clips or something, now if I put them into say Sony Vegas, I can add effects, titles etc just as WMM can. Except with WMM I can't save it as a different file such as .avi just as .WMMMV or whatever and I've been told that converting it would make it crappy quality. But does Sony Vegas let you save it and change it to a suitable file type such as .avi once pieceing it all together and editing?

Hope that wasn't too confusing, just wondering because I'll dl the trial version and test it out, just wondering what peoples oppinions are on it as well as a answer for my question, it seems to be a highly rated program though.

yes it can, think this is forum but yeh with vegas you can change the file type it saves as

although if you've never done any video editing before id suggest starting with WMM its a lot simpler, then move onto vegas, thats what i done.

Id recommend something like ulead video studio if you've not done any video editing.

Vegas is quite complex in comparison.

CRC error - sounds like the downloaded file is corrupted

Also - wrong forum mate :)

Jumping on before it falls into the weirdo area of the forums.

I love Sony Vegas, use it all the time and would be happy to help with anything (when I get home).

Vegas is great, I've tried various programs, others including adobe premiere, but I've stuck on sony vegas as my favourite. To put a movie together it really isnt too complicated, though some of the advanced effects requiring keyframes etc require some thought/experience/looking at the manual.

Referring to game vids for uploading to the internet: Normally I output the video as a raw avi file then use Windows Media Encoder (free download from Microsoft) to convert to a high quality wmv file.

Well I got the demo working and I can only save as .veg and a few other types but not as .avi? or .wmv or w.e none of the common files why?
