I was just given a mate's old sony vaio (VGN-NR21J) after an upgrade. Its spec is thus:

CPU: Intel Dual Core T2330 @ 1.6ghz
RAM: 2gb Ram
GPU: Mobile intel GM965 express chise family revision C and i THINK its got 448MB memory wise.

ok so now i don't know much about that GPU i assume its onboard. And i read somewhere that it can run a bunch of games manshoots and such on their lowest settings etc.

Thing is i was thinking of MAYBE getting a better but cheap dedicated GPU. so i can maybe play EVE online (novice player mind. so no PVP strain yet) i'm not looking for something recent or expensive. Just something bit better than what i already have on the laptop. All advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Not going to happen I'm afraid, all the Vaio motherboards (as with most laptops) are custom to the range. The dedicated GPU or intel's GMA is hardwired onto the motherboard. There is no option for changing them

IIRC the ones that came with Nvidia GPUs had different motherboards to those with GMAs, and as i said, Sony tends to surface mount the GPU, but you've got nothing to loose by opening her up and having a look! It could probably use a clean out anyway.
