I have a Walkman NW-A1000 and I like the the look, design, sound quality, navigation system etc, in fact I like pretty much everything about the Walkman... My problem is that I hate SonicStage after using iTunes. Is there any way to use my walkman with iTunes?

No

Your stuck with Sonicstage.

What version do you have? Just that I don't find it all that bad tbh.

Hmmmm.... I wouldn't mind listening to music on my phone, so maybe I should get a Sony ericson one - they can be used with iTunes can't they? If not I may just hold off until the iPhone is released.

Do you only use Sonicstage to transfer files to the player or do you use it to play music in windows aswell?

Sonicstage isn't too bad for just transfering files but I'd never use it for my music over something like Winamp or Foobar in Windows.

I seriously don't mind using Sonicstage to transfer music to my HD5 because it catologues the files perfectly on the Mp3 player. In my opinion it is better than the drag and drop method because in my experience it is a lot less organised.

Itunes might be better but how often would you use either in the grand scale of things. I use Sonicstage about once every week to transfer some new albums onto my HD5 and this takes about 10 mins.

If I were you I'd cope with Sonicstage and enjoy your superior hardware ;)

Does sonicstage now encode to mp3 naturally or does it still convert to atrac?

I had an HD5 when they were first out - and the hardware itself was pretty good

I know you can now play MP3's on Sony walkmans although I'm not sure if SonicStage does it for you!

I do like the actual walkman and prefer it to the iPod, as I don't like the thumb wheel thingy.
I have used iTunes on my wifes iPod mini though and it's a lot better than SonicStage in several ways. I prefer the iTunes store as it's easier to navigate than Sony's version and also the playlist creator etc is really easy to get on with on iTunes.
Another problem I found with my walkman is that I can add tracks to the trash bin on walkman itself but then it doesnt show you the tracks ready fgor deleting on SS?

Sonicstage just transfers it to the player without any conversion as far as i can tell otherwise it would take a lot longer than it does.

Sonicstage for just transferring the files is fine, doesn't crash every time like the old builds (infact the new one seems 100% stable for me)

The problem is you are trying to use the software as iTunes, thats not gonna happen, there are tricks you can learn on Sonicstage if you have patience with it, but tbh whats wrong with just organising your music through it then just listening to the music on your walkman : /

I've never used the store on it though, or anything else though I just buy CD's.

there was a good beta plugin for winamp kicking around that i used to use on my nwa 1000

the sony walkman players play mp3 and wma now so i cant see why they dont just add a drag and drop feature like all the other sony stuff :(

connect player always worked fine for me :o

just a tad slow at transfering but i think that was my usb ports going on one thinking they where 1.1
