Do any of you guys use sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for watching movies on TV ?
As am thinking of buying these headphones for using with my TV and maybe also for a bit of PC/Console gaming

Would i be better of paying the extra for the newer M5 version

Too laggy for console.

AptX support would be better for TV lip sync. What codec does your TV support

Thanks for the reply

The Specs only say which USB playback Codecs it supports, But i don't use anything by USB on my TV

For headphones it just says = Headphone 3D Surround Ready - Yes

Edit
Bluetooth profile support

  • Version 4.2,HID (mouse/keyboard connectivity)/HOGP (Low Energy device connectivity)/SPP(Serial Port Profile)/A2DP (stereo audio) 7/AVRCP (AV remote control)

I found this info but I don't think it's specific to your TV but I also believe older Sony sets it only supports the SBC Bluetooth codec.

Either way best thing do is try any only Bluetooth earphones to first check what you think of the lip sync/audio latency.

I regularly use BT audio with my LG C9 and it's a Godsend.

Thanks again

I wish i did have some old bluetooth headphones to try, But I only have a pair of sony Pulse 3D wireless headphones that came with my PS5 but their not bluetooth :(

I also found from that link you posted that my TV can work with this wireless transmitter

Don't bother with those for TV/Movies.

Had them and returned them and went back to Bose QC45.

Tried on both Samsung and LG TVs and on both the sound slowly goes out of sync. Pausing and resuming your content fixes it. Same issue with the wireless version of these fyi.

At the time I looked into it and even the current gen Sony TVs had similar issues. It was over 1 year ago so I can't recall the specifics, but I will never buy Sony wireless headphones again for TV usage!

After i looked into it there seems to be a lot of problems with people suffering from lip sync issues with multi different branded bluetooth headphones due to the audio lag with bluetooth

Bose seem to have cracked it. No problem on both Samsung and LG TVs across 2 pairs of QC45 and 1 pair of QC45.

I use the 700 and 720 Bluetooth headphone with my LG C3 and my old Sony. I connect to the fire stick on my old tv but the 720 on the C3 with no problems. I also have a set of 1000XM4 buds that I have used a few times with no issues. I don’t use them for prolonged time tho.

Bought these headphones today and ordered the Sony WLA-NS7 wireless transmitter to use with them
