So going to go for one of these this weekend now the prices have dropped. The XH95 is now only £100 more at £999 for the 55" version. Is there any reason to save £100 and just get the XH90? Thats the TV I was originally going to get but then the XH95 dropped in price to what the XH90 was

I believe the 95 does NOT have HDMI 2.1, whereas the 90 has now had HDMI 2.1 firmware released (doesn't support all the features but its a start).
I was heavily considering buying the 90, but now likely going to wait until next years range, as I tend to keep a TV for 5 years, and don't want to be on the wrong side of a standards shift.

Thanks that might clinch it then as I got the XBOX Series X this week. I'm the same with tellys, keep them for a while and try and buy once properly and not twice cheaply which I made the mistake of doing last time. 1k is top of my budget.

Yep, I'm still using a KDL-55W829. Great TV at the time, but now looking decidedly dated on a number of metrics, and the smart functionality started failing some time ago.

Looking forward to a new 4K set to go with VOD, 4K PC etc etc, and the Mrs has also come around to the idea, but going to look at next years sets I think rather than settle for this years, as ideally want something with all HDMI 2.1, and it seems like all the TV models for this year have issues here and there.

Next year might see some substantial upgrades, newer chipsets etc :)
Same with AVRs, as seems most of this year's units use a HDMI 2.1 chip which has issues with uncompressed 4K120...ala the Xbox, PS4 and PC /facepalm.

Fingers crossed next years kit is more refined!

Always one, but yes, when you consider this year is half assed on implementation, and most sets only have 1/2 HDMI as 2.1 rather than all, it seems worth it if going to be using the TV for more than 2-3 years.
There is always something new coming, but as we're at the rear end of 2020, buying now seems a bad idea really unless necessity, especially with rumours MicroLED might hit the market next year; and I understand sets this year were not much better than last year, or were even a step back, so next year may be a more solid step forward.

Ha I have the KDL-55W829 too and its just completely fubar'd! I was going to wait until next year to replace it as well. Boo!

LG CX seems the way to go. Argh more funds...

So as an update, I got the Sony XH92 which is a Currys varient of the XH90. I couldnt really get on with it though and found Android buggy and I couldnt get the colours the way I wanted them so it went back.

Ended up pushing the boat out a bit and got a LG 55 CX which I'm absolutely delighted with
