hi all, stuck on PIPEX at the moment ~@ 256kb ADSL paying £14.99 a month, uncapped.

does anyone know anything for undre $20 approx 1-2mb which is uncapped, or like a 40gb limit?

i have checked around but they all have stupidly low caps on or charge £30 a month!

http://www.demon.net/demon/products/internetaccess/broadband/home

They have a fair use pol but its only a "If you download a lot we will slow your connection down for 30 days during peak periods"

I'm with them and its not too bad, i'm on the homeoffice as i have been for 3 years. Must admit recently speed has got a slower at peak times but im not sure thats just because people in my area are all maxed up now there is no ratio?

Good Value for Money considering its upto 8mbps as well :)

minsta. i have been looking at NTL could you answer a qu for me?

what cabling does NTL connect with? and where is the point in your house?

my router is situated upstairs, with my PC. and i run a short phone cable about 5 metres from my mum n dads bedroom under the carpet to the router. i dont want to have to relay the stairs carpets and run a FAT ethernet cable all hr way upstairs unless i have to?

also, why is NTL website so bad? they show u the offers, i. 3 for £30, and tell u u get 80 channels, but does it list which? or how the connection works? does it chuffers!

My NTL cable comes in on a coaxial cable which is in my lounge (I'm in a flat on the 2nd floor) it goes into some wall box and then another coaxial cable runs from that box to the cable modem, the guy that fitted this bit said I he could run the cable to anyroom I wanted.

The cable modem can be connected to a router or PC by normal CAT5 or a USB cable, mine has a short CAT5 run to my wifi router :)

yeah same here. im on ntl's 2meg service and always seem to get full speed. might be one of the best options for you.

dont tiscali also do a 2meg uncapped (fair usage jobby) service for around the same price?

Even if they did I wouldn't call Tiscali a viable option. :p

Depends what the OP is after though. :)

Tiscalis fair usage is ridiculous...

I could get full speed, but dowload 50mb, and for at least a week id have pings of 100ish daytime, 250-350 during evening (4pm to around 2am)

AOL offer uncapped downloads.

sounds nuts but if you've got a router you can avoid there software. They also provide you with a free wireless router, sell it on ebay and it will work out to something like £7/month, also they give you a free month to.

PS go through quidco and get £45 cash back!

bah, not many options out ther is there? i remmeber the days of Redant where i had free unlimted dialup for a year for like 100 squid¬

will try and see if i can persuade the 'rents to go NTL, might take some work (digging up the garden etc)

i am also interested in the demon home 8000 as a backup, as £20 is reasonable.

BT say i would prob get 3mb down on my line.

The main network is fiber however the path to your house is not. Either NTL or AOL will serve you well as both offer good speeds and unlimited downloads, i'd check samknows to see what sort of speed you are likley to get on adsl before you decide though.

I'm with tiscali atm and quite frankly, while in the past theres been no probs with speeds, but lately, I've been having probs even getting connected with outlook express, and thats not at peak times either. On normal internet, I've run adslguide speed test and the lowest I've seen is "245kbps" downstream, where it used to be around "1800". this is just not good enough, so I'm looking the "pipex" deal with free calls, no download cap, etc.
