Soo... thinking of maybe replacing desktop with laptop

However, I do have a few requirements/questions...

Firstly, I would like to do video editing on it. So it needs to be dual-core, preferrably core 2 duo, unless the turons are actually decent, and it needs firewire.

Only, I am not sure how well a system with the following kind of specs will for video editing:
Dual core
Vista
2GB memory (may upgrade to 4GB)
5400RPM drive

Won't be doing gaming on it. If I do decide to get a laptop, I will then game exclusively on my 360.

I would also be doing some development work (Visual Studio) and photo editing on this machine.

I am wondering if I would get a system powerful enough for under, or around, £500, that would cope with my needs?

While I have been messing aorund with desktops for many, many years, and would know what I need/want, I am in the dark where laptops are concerned....

Not too worried about display size as would keep my 22" for doing development/video editing/photo editing on.

How important is dedicated video really if not gaming?

Am busy looking at Vostros.... found an excellent deal, with only shortcoming being 14.1" screen and no dedicated graphics, but has 2.4Ghz Core 2, 250GB drive and 4Gb memory.....

Think I need to leave this til next month. Off on holiday next week anyway.

Too many things to research and choices to make to come to a decision any time soon.

Though will probably look at getting Vostro 1500/1700.
