Ok so I ordered a Lian Li Q08B today along with a Gigabyte H55N-USB3. Already got a i7 860 and 8gb ram (will have to ditch 4gb) and Im hoping to squeze a H50 in there, just wondering if anyone else where has the H55N-USB3 and if its any good?

Only thing i would have liked is Raid but cant have it all I guess, I had considered the DFI P55 board but I read it wasnt that great, so will either loose my raid 0 or just ditch one of my F3 1tb's and get a SSD for boot

Anyone here got a mitx system watercooled with a H50?

I have a H55N board, selling at the end of the month though.. its excellent! i also ran mine with a i7 860 and 2x4gb corsair ram.

only problems i found is some coolers is a pain/cannot be fitted because of the cpu placement.. You will find a problem when installing the h50 it has something to do with the backplate, I think you have to sand a corner down or buy some nuts instead of using the backplate (thats what i was going to do) you have to research that one ;)

Cheers just read that on another forum, ive posted on corsair forums to see if it would be possible to purchase another backplate at a later date if needed, we are at the end of the month :) i could have bought yours lol. Anyway how was it as far as overclocking goes? I can hit 4.2ghz on my current cpu and board, i dont expect that on the mitx but would be happy anywhere near 4?

I'll be watching this thread with interest, I'd like to change my atx setup for itx and upgrade at the same time. Will you be updating with build progress? Am currently looking for ideas - Drexels thread looks interesting with regards to build ideas if you are looking for any others?

I indeed will be, all the components are arriving tomorrow :)

Board arrived as did the case but I had a change of heart and decided it was a bit of a backwards step from my current P55 Matx setup. Whilst it would have been a nice little setup I decided it just wasnt worth it.

Why is that? You can use pretty much the same components as you are currently using but in a smaller and sleeker case. Which case are you currently using?

I just bought an almost identical system (but with i5 760) and it is AWESOME.

thats the problem im using some old skelaton (not an antec one :) ) until i can find something suitable. I stuck my matx board on fleabay so I really should have waited to see if that would sell, if it doesnt even fetch the price of the mini itx board then it seems pointless for a step back in performance and features

Hence I keep refering to the Clarkdale cpu's i.e. i3 5xx and i5 6xx.
The gpu is indeed built into these cpu's but to utilise it you still need a board with H55/H57 chipset to output it.

sorry i was getting confused thought you were implying about a dedicated onboard gpu :) yeah i know that they require the h55 or h57 to make them work :)
