Any advise/suggestions from the overclocking gurus greatly appreciated.

AS5 you'll be happy with in 200 hours

The DFI SLI DR is amazing mobo, even though i only got one and sold it too they are wow

The Opty 144 i got one here and never used it but i now hate it due to cold bug stepping

OCZ ram i have the 1Gb 512mb x2 and i got them on my intel right to 263 mhz fsb @ 2.65v 2.5-rest where pretty tight if i remeber rightly...i took a peak at them and they are TCC5.

My poor little brain is hurting so much from reading the gazillion overclocking guides on the net i'm sure it's leaking out of my ears!! lol

Is there any particular guides that you would recommend me to have a gander at?

Thanks

Everything has now been recieved, checked, installed and checked with and hour of prime 95 for stability.

Now onto the fun overclocking stuff!!

Will update with news as and when :D

Currently have a 35% increase from 1.8 G - 2.4 with standard volts and a cpu temp of 40 :D

Still pushing though. What kind of speeds could i expect?

2.6 stable :) 2.7 unstable :( Gonna up the volts to the CPU now and see what happens. Still a 45% increase from stock not a bad result. :D

Will let you all know what happens

Out of curiosity if you're going for an overclocking rig why don't you look at the Intel 805D smithfield chip? Same kind of price range for the CPU and you can get some pretty decent results from it..

He's already bought his kit ! :p

the 144 are great clockers..

whats the stepping on yours? mines a CAB1E 0514 and will go up to 3.2ghz Prime stable - I only run at 3.15ghz 24/7 though.

this is on water bear in mind, but with the decent air cooler you should hit 2.65ghz range fairly easily

How is that going to change your OC?
Your OC is really dictated by mobo and cpu (MHz all the way for a64)

more RAM, some TIM, better cooler and a DVD writer ant going to do much.

The fact that you waited to OC until purchase 2 is strange but will still be rewarding.

Probably no different to purchase 1.

Ok you might have more RAM and maybe better timings but significant.

CPU : MOBO : PSU all the way.

,......and you already had that..!!!

/edit you would be surprised how far stock HSF wouold have got you, but still, you have refrained until now, go for it/edit

MAY have been too hot.

He didn't try did he.

peace of mind and lower temps > higher OC I reckon. (give or take 100Mhz or so)

edit/ the existing components is where the OC is at, recent additions can improve it marginally, nothing more/edit
