Sopranos PS2 game

Anyone played it. I've never owned a console, but I'm thinking about getting a PS2 just so I can play this game. I played Godfather on my PC and loved it. Now I want to explore some other games in this genre.
So Sopranos, is it any good? Can anyone reccomend some similar games that are good?

Have you played Mafia on the PC. I haven't played the Godfather but I hear its similar, its getting a bit dated tho.

Another vote for Mafia - I played the Xbox version which is pretty decent.

Haven't tried Mafia yet, I'll give it a shot. Can you use a joypad though? That's what makes playing Godfather really fun for me. You can call me a lamer if you like, but I'm just not a wasd + mouse kinda guy.

Godfather absolutely sucks compared to Mafia....

And Mafia on the XBox is poor - play it on the PC, its one of the best games I've ever played (and I'm pretty sure a lot of people will agree with me)
