We use a mail filter appliance at work that allows multiple black lists to be configured.
As we were getting an awful lot of issues with messages we didn't want we added SORBS as an additional filter.

It works but also seems exceptionally aggressive with legitimate sites, especially German hosted ones.
We have had some feedback saying SORBS is known for this over there and is part of their 'business model' rather than just filtering.

Anyone heard similar or had problems when filtering using SORBS?

We use spamhaus & Mailmarshal, cant say we have ever had much of a problem with them, we had a few with UCE and Spamrats mind.

We disregard SORBS here, they just hold you to ransom. Forget them, get a proper gateway service for spam that filters before Exchange or whatever like Symantec.Cloud, Mimecast etc.

Thanks for the replies.
We do have a gateway service, and it allows multiple services to be used. We just chose to add SORBS to that list it uses.

However from your comment it sounds like the issues we heard about.
