So my little (well taller) brother's provisional licence has expired & he is looking to get another but there are a couple of problems.

He hasn't changed his address since before he was in Uni a good few years ago. That is no really a problem though.

Also due to his stupidity he left the 125cc he was riding at the time chained to a fence in his old flats back garden. Being a numpty he didn't claim it off road (back in 2005).

His biggest worry is that when he renews his provisional that they will slap a massive 7 year old fine on him after he renews his provisional or even worse; court.

Is he being very paranoid? Or would it have been scrapped or sold on many a year ago?

His old provisional has our old family address on it, so he would not have got any notifications. Wouldn't the DVLA have his name flagged though other databases if it was as serious as his paranoia is making it out to be?

Cheers in advance. :D

So if he didn't sorn it what did he do? just ignore the letter? Not sure on that one.. But as for not changing your address not being a problem, you realise if you get pulled over you could have to pay a £1000 fine for incorrect details, it states that at the bottom of the paper part of the licence.

Well he had a lot of health trouble just after uni. He hasn't been driving since.

As far as I know the bike was just left to rust away in the yard of the flat he lived in at the time.

The letter would have been sent to our old family home which none of our relatives live in now and we haven't received any forwarded mail.

Yeah, I just think his main fear is getting everything sorted then getting whacked with an old fine when he gets a new car/bike etc.

His alternative is never drive again. Just get on with it. If it happens it happens. He can't get round it.

This ^^

In all probability its long since been reported as abandoned ( well it was 7 years ago after all :p ), & towed away to be scrapped by the local council.

Thanks for the replies guys, told him to man up and just get his details sorted and if he gets done over, then it's one of life's lessons.
