SORN Help needed

I think I'm just being thick here so need some help.
So I have my car on my drive & it's Taxed till end of 1st 2013 & MOT'ed, The insurance ran out yesterday & as I don't use it I'm not going to bother for a while, Do I need to SORN it ?
I've read the website & it says Yes I have to SORN it even though it's taxed & on a Private drive way, Are they Mad ?
I have 14 days to do it so no panic but need confirmation that I have read it properly & Do need to SORN it.

I think it's that new law about uninsured cars.

If you SORN it now you will get a refund of your tax for the remaining full months.

So I have to SORN it & refund the Tax or can I just SORN it ? Think it'll be easier to just insure it again.

@ZG002 I read all the sites/info but it wasn't clear to me, Motors section knows everything Everybody knows that.

Ok guys Cheers for clearing that up for me. I'll leave the thread open as I'm sure there's plenty more people that didn't realise you had to SORN a car that is Taxed & on a Private drive.
