SORN start date before application date?

Hi,

Sorry for the boring question but does anyone understand Statutory Off Road Notifications (SORN)?

I want to declare my car off road online, it seems simple enough but when I get to the confirmation page it says SORN start date 1st December... it's now the 29th December and obviously I've been driving it in the interim so err, anyone? Surely I don't need to wait until January do I?

Sounds like its set up from the beginning of the month.

Yeah, presumably it's taxed to end of December anyway and you don't get any refund for partial months. Just SORN it from Jan 1.
