Thinking of building this and taking advantage of the EVGA 90 day part exchange to get the new nvidia cards when they come out as well as leave myself room for a penryn if they're a big improvement too. I know nothing about this mobo other than that Abit gear has always treated me well in the past!

Let me know what you think (PS, money is not restricted, upgrade anything you like within reason). In particular I doubt I chose the best ram I could have.

Will you be overclocking?

With that CPU cooler you have to get a separate 120 mm fan. I quite like the 1200 RPM S-Flex for that purpose.

That RAM is likely overkill unless you plan on overclocking beyond 3.6 GHz. Get the Geil PC2-6400 that's on sale. It's do the same job and cost loads less.

EDIT: Why two different SATA cables? I can possible understand why you'd want the secure connect one rather than the ones that come with the mobo, but the other one leaves me scratching my head.

£7 for a posh SATA cable :-/ There is no need for getting extra SATA cables at all your mobo will give you plenty.

As said ram is overkill. Nothing beats the value of Geil Ultra 2Gb DDR800.

Do you have to go for the X-Fi prelude? A normal X-Fi extreme music will save you over £60.

8800GT is the card to get but that evga is just overpriced even with crysis included, I would get the GT elsewhere for £160 and get crysis seperately but that's just me. Besides there is a huge shortage of GT atm so you'll be waiting for a while.

I disagree on the video card, steve. The difference between that and the base model is £29.37 including tax. That seems like a reasonable amount to pay for a slight factory overclock and a game that he'd probably be buying anyway.

Can't remember why I put the SATA cable, noted on the RAM, figured I could go cheaper. Yes I will be overclocking, 120mm fan added into the mix, will the cooler fit the case and everything? Also I was planning to order on around the 19th of the month, what are the wait times like on 8800gt? Should I place the order in advance now?

Well the eta for that evga superclocked is the 15th but then it's not a guarantee.

not sure about the case though might be a bit tight because the top fan.

The P182 is basicaly the same inside as the 180 which I have for my server, and you should be fine with that heatsink/fan, there is plenty of room

If the Thermalright is similar in size to the Noctua HF12, you will be fine.

edit: Thermalright is 5.5mm higher, 6mm wider & 4mm narrower.

P182 is a damn fine case, with plenty of room. Top fan can be removed anyway if needs be.

Pic from inside inside the P182 may give you a better idea.
