Earlier i had a mild outburst of annoyance at overclockers and thread was locked and i was directed to customer support. However as it's new years i doubt anyone will be in untill monday. Basically my motherboard i recieved was hooked up and the fan span at a very slow speed. I have checked the ram, gfx card and psu as suggested on the phone to overclockers i have also checked for shorts and tried it without it being connected to the base. However I dont have an am3 board to check the processor. Before i send it off, can anyone suggest anything to try, this to me seems like a motherboard issue however i'd like some second opinions before having to spend £21 pounds. 2 other issues are i recieved no dirt 2 code in my phenom pack, where is it suppost to be listed because i didn't get any extra stuff with my pack. The last issue is my motherboard is now out of stock, and this kit is to be used for my uni final on the 11th, would i be likley i will recieve it before then if i send it asap? I have no experience with overclockers resuppling methods?

regards

my psu is a 500W JN120F-500AP with 120mm fan

Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard [GA-MA790XT-UD4P]

direct from the manual

ATX_12V_2X4/ATX (2x4 12V Power Connector and 2x12 Main Power Connector)
With the use of the power connector, the power supply can supply enough stable power to all the
components on the motherboard. Before connecting the power connector, first make sure the
power supply is turned off and all devices are properly installed. The power connector possesses
a foolproof design. Connect the power supply cable to the power connector in the correct orientation.
The 12V power connector mainly supplies power to the CPU. If the 12V power connector is not
connected, the computer will not start.
• To meet expansion requirements, it is recommended that a power supply that can withstand
high power consumption be used (500W or greater). If a power supply is used that does not
provide the required power, the result can lead to an unstable or unbootable system.
• The power connectors are compatible with power supplies with 2x2 12V and 2x10 power
connectors. When using a power supply providing a 2x4 12V and a 2x12 power connector,
remove the protective covers from the 12V power connector and the main power connector on
the motherboard. Do not insert the power supply cables into pins under the protective covers
when using a power supply providing a 2x2 12V and a 2x10 power connector.

I think all new motherboards accept 8pin + 24pin.

Think you may need to look at purchasing a new PSU.
As I've already said recently I'm very wary of cheap PSU's.

im not entirly sure, i read a guy managed to get it working with the 4 pin only. As for the psu it wasnt cheap at the time :P

well, i have a 500w psu, running a phenom x4 3.2 (forgot the model off the top of my head)
9800gt. Maybe 500 watts isn't enough for the card and the cpu. As the 8 pins power the cpu. I put the system through a watt checker online and it came up with 460 watts. So not really sure what to think atm

So you only have the 4-pin ATX12V Power to plug into the 8 pin ATX12V socket,it should be okay with just the 4 pin plugged in for now,i have run older psu,s which only have the 4 pin to plug in and they ran fine with the advise to upgrade the psu to a newer model that supply's the 8 pin atx 12 volt..

It the fan is spinning slowly, it means its being automatically controlled by the motherboard (PWM etc...). You can disable this in the bios. Look for options to do with fan control

I cant access bios i get no screen display,I though the psu delivered a spin up on its own in case the board blew?

fixed thread can be closed and deleted please, turns out a piece of the packaging was in the ram slot, aw well live and learn no idea how it got there because its off the static bag and mines not ripped :S
