Hi guys,

I'm about to purchase Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 and Geil 6400c4 memory with a Scythe Ninja cooler

so what processor do you recommend to overclock with this???

Either E4300 or E6300 or E6400?

I am very confused as to whether this mobo and ram will be ok with the processors with a lower multiplier due to memory or FSB issues.

Thanks for looking

E6400 all the way, for the small price difference it is worth every penny!

Much better at clocking than the 4300, and has a higher multi than the 6300, plus you already have the other quality components ready!

I was in the same position 2 weeks ago and went for the 6400 and haven't regretted it since.

Currently have it at 3.2 @ 1.3v but there are some forum members on here that have them running at 3.6+ @ about 1.45v :D

Just bought nearly the same gear i.e. p5ne-sli and ninja(only got the value geil though, kiccking myself now i see the faster stuff is down to only £6 extra :( ). But went with the E4300. Sitting at 3.4 orthos stable now and probably can work close to 3.6(gets into windows fine but not 100% stable yet) I'm glad I didn't spend extra on the higher priced chips. 3-3.6ghz seems to be the sweet spot on all of these C2D's with a few peeps getting higher but mainly with high end cooling, so why pay more.

Why did you go for the E4300?

everyone told you to get a 6400

I told him to get an E4300. I guess it depend how high he's wanting to clock. If he's looking for a nice stable 3-3.4ghz he should be ok with the 4300 and be saving £50 and a lot of 6400's will get no higher it seems. Surely if you wanted to spend more you'd go for the 6600 with 4mb cache?
