Sorry to have so many problems lately.

When I start up my computer the black screen comes up with the computer's information. It displays: 2.3 GHZ.

Now, when the computer is up in Windows and I go to Control Panel, System - it only shows it having 1.2 GHZ.

I do have a CPU disc, but I don't want to risk doing anything with that when I'm not sure.

Also, my RAM isn't working. One slot does and the other doesn't. I've had to take that out to even get my computer working as the screen remains black if I don't. Going to need to get new RAM but not sure what will be compatible with my comp.

speed step or cool n quiet is enabled, this will reduce the speed to save power while the cpu is doing sod all.
 
I think cool and quiet is disabled but I will check in BIOS again.

As for the RAM, do you think it has had it?

When I put both RAM in the screen won't show, just remains black but it is only doing it with the one card. Need to buy more RAM, but not sure what is compatible?.

Will my computer accept higher RAM like DDR3 even though it currently has one slot of DDR2 as I had to remove the other one. I did have 4GB RAM but now only two.

one way of checking the cpu speed is to downlaod CPU-Z, it will clearly show the core frequency.

If it looks too low, then run a simple stressful program such as super-pi/prime 95 side by side the open CPU-Z program and watch to see if the core speed rises?
