I'm looking at an upgrade but trying to do it without spending too much (aren't we all). This current system has lasted a fair while and hopefully my upgrade will as well although it doesn't have to be state of the art (lack of funds dictates that).

I'm looking at the C2D E6600 and probably about £150 on a graphics card. I did think about going the Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA route but that doesn't offer SATA2. System is mainly used for gaming.

I guess I'll probably have to replace the mobo/cpu/memory/graphics card.

I don't plan on doing any overclocking and am not looking to replace the monitor (yet!).

Anyone fancy a challenge?

thanks

Willow

Total: £554.48 Inc shipping.

Depending on your PSU you may need a new one for the 8800.

Its criminal not to overclock a Core 2 Duo,get the performance of £800 worth of hardware for the same price.

Tell me if that is too steep we can step it down.

Thanks for the reply.

As much as I would like a setup like that, it is (currently) a bit beyond my wallet. I was going to puchase the components over the next 3 months or so but as my graphics card looks like it is now broken I need to speed up the buying process (or be without a fully usable machine for 2-3 months).

I guess I could do without the cooler and just use the out-of-the-box cooler.

Any other options?

The components suggested there are exactly what I have in my system apart from the DS3P, which if I had the choice I would have got myself if it had been available. Excellent spec.
