Hello folks, I'm sure this must have been asked a hundered times but I couldn't find reference to it in the FAQ thread.

At the budget end of the 20"-22" moniter scale, which is the preferred option? LCD or LED?

Thanks for any help,

Smiler.

Hi there, "LED" just refers to the backlight - these monitors still use LCD panels. In comparison monitors advertised as "LCD" use CCFL backlighting.

This article discusses what LED backlighting really is and whether it is worth getting, it is well worth a read.

Personally I pick my monitors based on panel technology (ie TN, VA or IPS), not backlighting flavour.

Yep LED is a backlighting technology which is applied to a liquid crystal display (LCD). You may see screens advertised as led screens but that's only referring to the backlight. Links above should tell you much more :)
