I have a file, not sure what the type is, it has no extension. It is a video file that is all I know. Is there a easy way to find out. It is very close to a blueray video file.

Just try mp4 extension to it.

Though working might depend on player.
Wouldn't expect Microsoft's player to work unless everything is perfect.

i normally try add an extension to it.. mp4/wmv/mov etc just to see if that plays

Right click, properties, in the box that opens there may be tabs which give you more information about the file and it’s media format
