Not sure whether to post this under PC games or motorsport, but my mentality pushed me here...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone play any F1 games, specifically rFactor F1 mods?

2 mods out at the minute, F1RFT 2009 and FSone 2009 (just released). that have been taking up a lot of my time recently. Very absorbing and rewarding sims, especially on the setup fronts. Onliner's are a bit hardcore, but by and large very good racers. 2 pretty interesting varations on the "physics" of an F1 car translated into a sim.

I've never actually got round to buying rFactor and trying all the various mods, was always kept more than busy with the SimBin games. Loved GTL, GTR2 and GTREvo :)
Have raised in leagues on both GTL and GTR2, used to be great fun - some very fond memories!
Once I get a new place to live I'll make some room to setup the wheel properly and probably get back into it!

I could never get on with rFactor and LFS, neither gave me the same feel that GPL did.

iRacing however does give that same feel, just better :) they've got the licence to do the Williams FW31 (last years car) which is going to be utterly awesome once it's done hopefully towards the end of this year :)

The F1 2010 game actually looks kinda interesting as well, it seems to be not even approaching sim racing, but if they can make the handling driveable (specifically unlike Grid) then the 'game' side of it (eg developing a low running team, 'number 1 driver status' and things like that) does seem like it could be good

Same here. Graphically (yes im a sucker for em...) it looks immense at the moment. Handling wise im not convinced, although the last video posted was in the hands of a dev (iirc) and it looked alright. Hard to quantify until one plays the game I guess.

Will play it by ear whether I pickup the xBox or PC version. PC suits me better as it's in the spare room, xBox = competition with wife's TV viewing :) but...more of my mates around/online I guess. Probably an online player limit with the 360 too I'd wager.

Aaah. Gp4. Was heaven, but a little bit tired nowadays.

Tinkering with all manner of settings (and as a by product learning a bit about what affects a race car) takes up an inordinate amount of time in rFactor. I proper enjoy it though :)

iRacing has an F1 car on the way. iRacing is the best sim I've played thus far.

For rFactor F1 CTDP 2006 is the standard F1 mod - it's pretty good.

iRacing is the best racing game ever produced. It's not perfect, but it has moved the game on hugely from any other game presently or before it and as has been said it's the only one that betters the feel of GPL, which was stunning when you consider how old it is now, just felt right. Live for Speed is to arcady and rFactor bar the Caterhams (of those I have driven) never feels right to me.

iRacing is fantastic, unfortunately its playing and price structure just doesn't quite fit in with me.

Firstly, its' too expensive. Secondly; if I've had a busy week or 2 and not raced then I'm always reluctant to jump into one as I know I'm at risk of killing my safety rating and obviously someone elses race, yet I have no AI (even just basic) to to race offline which makes it boring to try and get sharp again. So I end up playing something else... all the time its costing me money, too much money.

This is fair, I bought it all pretty much and now it's lapsed as I didn't have the time or inclination to get good enough to progress.
