I'm going to sort out my filing system before installing the Windows 7 beta. To do this I want to merge and separate partitions, which means transferring large amounts of data too and fro.

1. Can anyone remind me how to get to the window that shows all the partitions on what disks and allows you to merge/separate in Vista.

2. Would it be a good idea to use some kind of monitoring software to check that the files have been transferred properly?

Ah ha! Thanks, I knew it was simple but was right clicking in the my computer window...:o

Is it fine just to add extra space to the end of a partition using that tool?

I want to add a bit more space to my C: drive but don't want to destroy the partition by doing it.

true. you would be better off using somthing like gparted on a small linux flash drive, but the windows 1 isnt bad for simple stuff.
