Sorting out Photo Collection

Hi,

I have about 8 Gig's of photos that I really need to sort out, at the moment they are just in a real mess and scattered around my machine, can anybody recommend any good software that will help me sort my life out!

Well I have duplicates on many drives, I need to sort it all out into one definitive collection.
