I discovered that my CPU temperature went up more than 10 degrees...so I entered BIOS and chose 'Load Optimized Defaults', saved to CMOS and rebooted...and now I'm having persistent/non-stop beeping and system won't boot up now....

The motherboard is P965 DS3........what does the persistent/non-stop beeping suggest? A fault of CPU or ?...I'm confused...

I checked and the CPU fan is working. Now I disconnected all PSU cables from the motherboard, taken out the little button-like battery (BIOS battery?), I'll leave it there for >5 mins..and see it this will help....

I tried your suggested method...it still has the persistent beep and won't boot...

Actually after choosing the 'Load Optimized Defaults', the system couldn't boot up normally, it had the usual failure beeps when you fail to overclock your CPU...and after that it just keeps beeping...

I guess some component might be failing now...either because of the CPU cooler (Noctua) or the CPU itself was damaged....

Used jumper to clear CMOS, and also tried the above said methods, to no avail....I've ordered a new motherboard....It seems I have no options at the moment to reset the CMOS...

dead board?

Yes..I tried to take out 1 DIMM...because the system won't enter BIOS even so I don't have any choice but to clear the CMOS first...

I googled for some information regarding the particular beep I'm having (Continuous High-pitched beep), according to some website for Award BIOS, it indicates an overheated CPU, which is kinda true because the thermal paste is almost gone (bad quality)...Could this really be the problem? I'll confirm this on Saturday when I get some Arctic Silver...

But thanks again for the helps so far.

At the moment, I don't have spare parts (PSU, graphics card, memory & etc) to troubleshoot thoroughly, the PSU might be the factor, but since every fan (CPU, Graphics card) runs properly as well as PSU cooling fan...I doubt the PSU has gone faulty.

There is simply no way I can reset the CMOS...tried all methods..

Some updates: I took out the CPU and rebooted the machine the beep disappears, but since there is no CPU i can't enter BIOS right? So now I think my CPU has gone bad?
