Hi all,

This just dropped on Christmas Day today on Disney+, and it once again demonstrates that Pixar have ‘it’.

Incredible visuals, fantastic soundtrack, a passionate attention to detail in every scene...

But most important of all, they put that all together to tell a story. One that means something to everyone one who watches their art and makes them leave with a sense of beauty and appreciation for what it means to be human.

I would love to go into detail about specific bits of the film that I loved, but really am just making this post to tell more people to watch it!

Absolutely agree - just watched it this evening. It probably now ranks as one of my all-time favourite Pixar films. Defintely targeted more at an adult audience than for the kids, as the humour is more subtle rather than laugh-out-loud/obvious - but I absolutely loved the characters, and the score is fantastic.

Defintely one to watch again before too long!

There's loads of articles about how this film 'stinks of racial insensitivity' and is 'made for white people'... which means it must be worth watching. Pixar have been a bit hit and miss since the Disney takeover but I'll check it out.

Just finished Coco, for the first half I thought I preferred Soul, but it really pulled on those heat strings by the end!

I enjoyed it.
Family enjoyed it.
Daughter was in emotional tears for large parts of it.

I've seen lots of people saying it's good, but YouTube has skewed my perception of media these days and i'm sat here thinking why the black guy?
What do you mean?

On a semi-related note, I watched the Incredibles 2 yesterday and it was just so beige, forgettable and derivative compared with Soul. Boring and safe. I actually found the score of I2 supremely irritating, with its completely overdone perpetual ‘crime caper / spy music’ being drilled into your ears every two seconds with horn blasts left right and centre. Oh, and don’t forget the boring and predictable ‘twist villain’ - yawn.
