Just came across some soulcalibur 4 info

Did Soulcalibur: Legends make you worried Namco Bandai had ditched the series' roots? Breathe easy, as we're setting your fears to rest; as we previously revealed, Soulcalibur IV is coming and today we can confirm the fourth iteration headed to both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008.

Details are scarce, but here's what we know so far: Ivy, Mitsurugi and Nightmare are all confirmed returns, new and unannounced characters will make their debut, and the game features "realistic environments, interactive stages, enhanced AI, and a new battle system," according to Namco Bandai. A lot more will be revealed in EGM's upcoming Soulcalibur IV cover story.

Oh, and did we mention 1UP has the first look at the teaser trailer? Check out GameVideos for a high-resolution version of the footage we have so far and HTML that'll let you drop the footage in your blog

"Soulcalibur has been a cornerstone franchise for Namco Bandai Games and this latest edition will build upon its legacy of groundbreaking fighting experiences," said Makoto Iwai, exec. VP and COO at Namco Bandai Games America. "With Soulcalibur IV, long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise will be amazed by its visual beauty and intense, pulse pounding weapon combat."

Remember, for a far more in-depth look at Soulcalibur 4, pick up the next issue of EGM, where the boys flew all the way to Japan for the full scoop on what to expect from Namco Bandai's latest fighter. The issue, which also features a look at Soulcalibur: Legends, hits stands July 3rd.

I am truly sick of seeing bits of games that are being released in 2008 :o

Thank god I have Final Fantasy XII and Burnout Dominator I can play on my PS3 :o

Soul Calibur 2 on the Dreamcast - still the greatest beat-em-up ever made :)

Looking forward to this...

SC 2 wasn't on the Dreamcast ;)
I think the arcade machine that ran it was a Dreamcast or something, but it never officially came out for the Dreamcast, I know it was ported to the Xbox/PS2 and Gamecube though.

Could be wrong about the first bit. :p

Soul Calibur 2 coin-op was on a System 246 setup, which was based on PS2 technology (Emotion Engine).

According to google, the arcade hardware SC 2 ran on was either Gamecube or PS2 based, depending on which site you believe.

This site says that SC 1 was PS1 hardware based and SC 2 + 3 were PS2 based...

Only Soul Calibur made it on to the Dreamcast, you may got a bit confused by the first game of the series which was called Soul Blade in the UK, think it was also called Soul Edge in some countries. So Soul Calibur was the sequel to Soul Blade it was the second in the series but only the first Soul Calibur.

He probably meant Sould Blade (PS1) > Sould Blade 2 (Soul Calibur, Dreamcast)

Tbh they should have stuck with the name Soul Blade/Edge. Anyhow it was a rubbish button basher! so roll on.
