Hi,

This is my first post and I'm a bit of a noob, so any help would be much appreciated.

I have a soundblaster audigy which has suddenly stopped working! I tried installing new drivers but the system says it cant recognise the hardware for the drivers. Also I tried moving the card to a different PCI slot and now it works but sounds muffled, kind of like the next door neighbour has their stereo on too loud and you can hear it through the wall!!!

I haven't been able to figure this out myself yet so if anyone knows the solution I would be very happy if they could share it with me :)

does anyone know where i can download the drivers for a Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE? I have been to creatives website but it says no updates available?????

Hi, welcome to the forums,

There is a chance it may be kaput however:

I'd remove any drivers associated with the sound card and move it lowest PCI slot available on your motherboard. From there use the drivers that come with XP (ie audigy SE) and see if that works. Ive quickly scanned google and creative website and found nothing.

Sorry if this is a bit of an offensive comment but i take it that it is THE really old long thin sound card that looks like this?

If so, if budget is available, it might be worth getting an OEM Audigy 2 for only a small amount of money and softmodding it to an Audigy 4. You will no doubt notice a pleasent increase in sound quality and will offer you EAX4 which is more than useful in CSS.

This is... interesting.

The Audigy2ZS and the Audigy 4 Pro do not use the same DAC/Op-amp (this is not the same thing as having 4 pipelines disabled - more like having SDR memory instead of DDR memory), so I fail to see how you can get an Audigy2ZS to sound like an Audigy 4 Pro. *Shrug*
