Hey guys I got one of those sound activated boxes for the cold cathodes the other day and was wondering if anybody knows if its possible to somehow wire it up to a line out from my sound card?

i.e open it up and solder one end to where the mic is or something!!!

just an idea lol, cheers ;)

Possible, yes, easy.....hmmmm

You'll need to do errrrm something or other to attenuate the level from the soundcard, as well as probably setting up a resistor to correct the impedance.

How about......

Rush round to your local 50P shop and score a pair of RANCID walkman headphones, then just tape one ear off against the mic hole?
(BTW, if either your idea or mine involves feeding two things from one line out, good luck, it's never a good idea to split a signal like that passively, and in the case of using the crappyphones, it could give you a headache if you had the same line out feeding your hi-fi/speakers, because the soundcard would not be able to determine whether line level or headphone level was needed).
Rigging it up on a spare output would be fine though.

PS, this isn;t just so you can yell "obey obey OBEEEEYYYYY!!!!" and have the CC's flash along is it?
It'll never work without the wheelchair with the nobbly bits ;)
