Sound bar..

Been looking for ages into getting one so I think I might bite the bullet...I was thinking of getting this:

Sony HT-MT500 Wi-Fi Bluetooth NFC Compact Sound Bar with Ultra-Slim Wireless Subwoofer, Hi-Res-Audio

Unless there's a better alternative. I'm quite attracted to it's size and sound pretty decent in shop demo.

Anyone got one? Thoughts?

What TV do you have?

I manged to pick up an LG SJ8 for £325, principally because it integrates well with the dedicated stand to the LG C7 and the missus doesn't want my Monitor Audio set-up in the main living room. It's 4.1 (wireless subwoofer) and it's not bad but still falls well short of a decent 5.1, or even 3.1 set-up (AVR plus decent speakers).

Unless you go top end price I would imagine they are all much the same at that price point and I wouldn't spend more than £350 on one personally.

Interesting but quite big and expensive.. Conflicting specs regarding the inclusion of the optical in port?

You can get it for £400, less than the Sony. I gave it a quick go in JL the other day and was really impressed with the sound. What will you be using the optical input for? I'm pretty sure it has one.

Is the small size the most important thing? Are you going to wall mount it or will it sit under the TV? And is the TV in the Corner or along a wall?

I tested a whole lot of sound bars between £200 and £500, the best sounding one to me were the Samsungs. Ended up buying the Samsung HW-K650.

^^ +1 Just bought one for my stepdad for xmas. Used to have one myself but decided to get a Av reciever and speakers instead as i had more room adter moving.

I don't yet but like you, I'm waiting to see what happens on/near Black Friday. I was really impressed with how it sounded in-store though.
